Diana/Myers Reception 10/11/08
October 13th, 2008
On Saturday, I was a little bit nervous on the way to Greensboro. I was playing for one of my DJ’s sister’s wedding. Marianne booked me for Theresa and Nathan’s wedding many months ago, and I knew I had to deliver. The reception was held at Starmount Forest Country Club. This was a big reception and the ballroom was decked out! It looked great when I arrived for setup. After a cocktail hour with a harpist, the guests made their way inside and I went downstairs to line everyone up. The bridal party walked in to “The Stroke” by Billy Squier and Nathan was wearing shades! Awesome! He took them off for their first dance which was choreographed to “Lucky” by Jason Mraz and Colbie Callait. It was my first time playing this song as a first dance, and it was great. They then did their parent dances to “Baby Girl” by Will Hoge (another great choice) and “Stand By Me” by Ben E. King (the last dance at my wedding, one of my all time faves). After a blessing, dinner began.
During dinner, we went ahead with toasts from Mr. Diana (great speaker), the best man (funny guy), and of course the maid of honor/sister of the bride Marianne. She was great and even referenced their favorite game show, The Price is Right, to which I cued up the theme song! Hilarious! Once the dancing finally started, people were ready and they hit the floor. I played a mix of all types of music and had older people dancing to “The Way You Move” by Outkast and the younger ones doing “The Twist”. I love that kind of crowd. This was a great reception and I think Nathan and Theresa left very happy under a shower of sparklers. I am hoping my buddy Kevin Milz is going to hook me up with some photos soon!
