Mahoney/Grebow Reception 5/31/08
June 9th, 2008
Erin and Stephen’s reception was at the historic Carolina Inn in Chapel Hill, NC, one of my favorite wedding venues. I especially love the Hill Ballroom there, it is gorgeous. I always have a great time there and it seems that all of my shows there are awesome! For the second week in a row, I was working with Kristin from KPO Photo. She is great and we always have a good time working together. You can check out her work below.
Erin and Stephen chose a very simple introduction with just them being introduced and then went into their first dance “Can’t Help Falling in Love” not by Elvis, but by Andrea Bocelli. It was my first time playing this version and it was great! The highlight of the evening for me was the father/daughter dance. It was to a song by The Four Aces called “Love is a Many Splendored Thing”. A great oldies song. The beauty of this choice is that her grandfather, Mr. Mahoney was actually one of The Four Aces! The song was a surprise to him and I could tell that it deeply moved him. I was also touched. He came over and talked to me and said “I could have given you a copy of that song”. I said, “I already had it in my collection!”. I obviously had downloaded the song for another event and actually had a copy before the bride ever asked me for it. That was a really cool part of the evening. They had a good mix of music on their list and most of the guests, particularly one fiery bunch of ladies, danced from the opening of the dancefloor until the last song. A great party all around!

September 10th, 2008 at 03:50 PM I'm the 3rd member of the father/daughter/grandfather trio you mentioned. I'm the proud father of this beautiful bride and father-in-law of a wonderful new son. This was truely one of the highlights of my life. Not only was my daughter, whom I love more than life itself, getting married but my fathers amazing accomplishment was recognized by Erin, honoring him with a song he and the other ACES made into one of the most beautiful love songs ever writtn. What could have possibly been better. I know it touched many a heart on this most wonderful and memorable day. My father is getting on in years now but neither he nor I will ever forget that special moment when unbeknown to us all, Erin choose to have she and I dance to "Love is a Many Splendored Thing". All of you did such a wonderful job of making this day so special for Erin and Steve and both of their families and friends.... Thanks
