Becker/Racine Reception 1/2/09

Chris and Kristin’s reception was the day after New Year’s Day at the amazing Carolina Inn, one of my favorite places in NC. I have to admit, that I thought people were going to still be hung over after a long holiday season…boy was I wrong. From the very beginning intro song Coldplay’s “Viva la Vida”, the crowd was rowdy and ready to party. The bride and groom went right into their first dance by Tony Bennett, “They Can’t Take that Away from Me”. The father of the bride welcomed everyone and then we had a blessing before dinner. Their seated dinner looked amazing and soon after we moved into parent dances, “Isn’t She Lovely” for the Bride/Father and “The Long and Winding Road” for the Groom/Mother. After toasts and cake, it was time rock! As soon as I played the first song, the dance floor filled up and remained that way until midnight. I was all over the map musically. I was pulling songs from their list, taking requests, and adding in my own flavor to create the perfect mix. This was the perfect way to start the new year!
