Stephen and Pia are an amazing couple. Their backgrounds and cultures are about as different as they come. Stephen is Boston Irish and Pia is Indian. They met at Duke in grad school and now they are married! I will tell you this, when you bring together these two groups of people it equals one thing…a party! They got married at The Umstead early that Saturday and we handled the audio. They saved the reception for the evening and this reception was rocking. Let me start from the top. I could tell right from the introductions that it was going to be a good night. The parents came in to “Shipping Up To Boston” by Dropkick Murphys and “Jai Ho” from the Slumdog Millionaire soundtrack. The rest of the bridal party entered to “Float On” By Modest Mouse. It was nuts and then Stephen and Pia went right into “Lovely Day” by Bill Withers for their first dance. Great song and a first for me! After several great toasts, Prestonwood brought out the dinners.

Before moving on, I will tell you that the room was unbelievable. My friend Lyn Graves with Fresh Affairs did amazing florals and some colorful cloth columns near the stairwell. Gorgeous! The event was coordinated by Angie Wright with Chic Details, great job Angie. So, let me say more about the reception. After the cake and parent dances, we moved right into open dancing and it was on fire from there! My last few songs almost peeled the paint off the walls! “Shipping Up To Boston”, “Jump Around”, and then “Shout” as my closer of course. It was madness! Great reception guys, congrats. Check out the amazing photos below from Neil Boyd Photography. Great stuff!
