Riley/Dorn Reception-2/21/09
February 24th, 2009
Elicia and Grant’s wedding this past Saturday took place at the Sheraton Capital Center in downtown Raleigh. I love working there and got to work with my friend Maite that I have known for years. The guests were a little early for the cocktail hour, but I was ready and waiting for them. After cocktails, the guests moved into the ballroom and I got everyone ready in the hall for the big introduction. I will have to admit, this was a great one! The parents came in to “Simply the Best” by Tina Turner, the bridesmaids and groomsmen then danced in to “Rosa Park” by Outkast. Finally, Elicia and Grant came in fake boxing to the Rocky theme song!!! It was great and as Grant swung at her and froze, I mixed right into their first dance, “You Had me From Hello” by Kenny Chesney. It was great! The parent dances were to “When You Wish Upon a Star” by Tony Bennett, “Sunshine of my Life” by Stevie Wonder, and “Song for Mama” by Boyz II Men.
After dinner, we moved into toasts and cake cutting. They smeared each other and had to clean up a little, but then the dancing started…and never stopped. This crowd came to party and it was rocking! I played alot of hip hop and new country by request of the bride and groom. I was mixing it up all over the place! What a scene. I had a ball and I think that they did too. Thanks guys! Check out some of the great pictures below by photographer and friend Martha Manning.

Busy Weekend, Just not DJ'ing
February 16th, 2009
Well, I will have to say that this is one of the last full weekends off before Christmas. I took advantage! I took my wife out to Fleming’s Friday night for Valentine’s Day (a day early), and it was great! On Saturday, we were all over the place. Lunch with my buddies the Duprees, then I took Colin to a birthday party at Jumpin’ Beans in Cary. He had a ball and jumped himself to exhaustion. Later that day, Ainsley and I went birthday shopping for both boys (coming up in a few weeks) and had sushi takeout for dinner before getting home and putting the kids down. Long day!
On Sunday, Colin and I got up and went to Krispy Kreme. Next, we went to a nice new playground in the Mordecai neighborhood. After that, we went for a bike ride at the greenway by my house. This was all before lunch! My mom and dad came up for lunch at The Point and then Colin and Ainsley went to another birthday party! After that, we played some wii, and then finally Ainsley and I went to the movies and saw “Taken”. Thank God for babysitters!
Anyway, a great weekend, and I’m not sure that anyone even cares, but just wanted to write something for the blog.
Roberson/Bohn Reception-2/7/09
February 9th, 2009
Josh and Ashley’s reception was at a place that I’ve never been to before, The Marlin Club. This is an awesome private club in Cary at The Arboretum. The place is small, but new and very cool inside. Plus, Lyn from Fresh Affairs did another one of his amazing jobs. The evening started off with heavy hors d’oeuvres and then soon afterwards the bride and groom arrived and did their first dance to John Legend’s “Stay with You” (great choice!). They did a combo dance with their parents to “What a Wonderful World” and then the father of the bride gave a welcome. I played some more cocktail music, they cut the cake, and then it was time to party. I played a mix of just about everything and everyone seemed to have a great time. I know that I did! ISES Triangle Wine Experience-2/7/09
February 9th, 2009
After I left my gig on Saturday, I stopped by the Triangle Wine Experience that was put on by ISES of which I am a board member at large. I will have to say that a TON of work and volunteering went into this event by ISES members. We took a blank warehouse off Atlantic Avenue and turned it into a Winter Wonderland theme. It was amazing once it was done, and unbelievably more money was raised this year than last for the Frankie Lemmon Foundation. Check out a few of the pictures below taken with our president’s camera.

Photography Seminar-1/31/09
February 3rd, 2009
My buddy and officemate, Shane Snider ,put on a photography seminar for 3 days down in Charleston, SC this past weekend. He had about 12 photographers there and invited me in to speak about vendor relationships. I showed up Saturday morning and spoke about an hour and a half. I think (hope) that everyone took something away from my lecture and actually learned. It was a great way to spend the morning and the rest of the weekend was very relaxing with my wife (dropped the boys off!) at the Charleston Place Hotel. I also got to go out with an old friend, Kelli Barnhart, that used to be at the Hilton RTP here in Raleigh. She is now at the awesome Market Place Pavilion with the amazing rooftop bar and pool. Also, as a side note, if you are ever in Charleston, you’ve got to go eat at Cypress, it is simply awesome! Below is a picture of me mid-sentence at Shane’s seminar. Thanks to Juliet Elizabeth for the photo.

Umstead Employee Party-1/29/09
February 3rd, 2009
I had the pleasure of doing The Umstead Hotel’s employee holiday party last Thursday at Prestonwood Country Club. As you know from reading my blog, this is one of my favorite hotels ever. Great service, room, restaurant, everything! I love to be a guest there and love to DJ there! Anyway, I will have to say that this party was challenging to say the least. All ages, all ethnicities, all types of music. Oh Brother… However, I will have to say that I pulled it off and the guests were going nuts on the dance floor for 2 hours straight. Definitely not your typical “corporate” gig!
