Melissa and John’s reception Saturday took place at Durham’s Hope Valley Country Club. Even though this place is 83 years old, it is an awesome club to have a reception. I really like playing there and Steven and the staff there are on the ball. As soon as the bridal party arrived, I lined them up for intros. The bridal party entered to the instrumental of “Bittersweet Symphony” and the bride and groom came in to “At Last” by Etta James. As soon as they hit the dance floor, I started their first dance song. This song was new to me, it was beautiful “We Are Man and Wife” by Michelle Featherston. You’ve gotta check this one out. It’s great! After a welcome by the father of the bride and a blessing, the guests moved from the ballroom into the dining room for a huge buffet dinner. As dinner ended, several people gave moving toasts and the lovely cake was cut. Everyone moved back into the ballroom afterwards for Melissa’s dance with her dad to “My Little Girl” by Tim McGraw and then John and his mother danced to “Unforgettable”. Finally it was time to open the dance floor. John and Melissa picked “Then Came You” by the Spinners as the opener and the dance floor started moving. I ran through all types of music during the night even playing some current stuff like Lady Gaga at the end of the night. The finale song was “The Way You Look Tonight” by Sinatra. It was a perfect way to the end the night. I sent the guests out front for the big sparkler exit, and John and Melissa drove off into the night on a golf cart all decorated up! It was awesome and reminded me of my wedding when we did the same thing leaving the church. The photographer was Bianca Palmer from A Moment Like This and I’m sure she is going to send me some great photos that I will be posting here!

Once again, Forever Bridal put on a great bridal show at the Jim Graham Building at the NC State Fairgrounds this past Sunday. I came up with some crazy idea to use light bulbs and then my friend and designer Leslie Ivey had the idea of using glass signs. Together, I think we created a killer booth. Check out the pictures below from awesome photographer Brian Mullins. If you are getting married, and want to try to plan your entire wedding in one day, then we hope to see you at their next big show!

Matt and Brandi’s reception took place at Duke Gardens. The catering and decor were provided by The Catering Company out of Chapel Hill. The flowers were done by Floral Dimensions. I will have to say, this was a very pretty wedding! After the bridal party arrived, I lined them up in the hallway and ushered everyone inside for the intros and first dance. I introduced them to “Intergalactic” by Beastie Boys and their first dance was choreographed to “Better Together” by Jack Johnson. It was a great way to start the night. After their first dance, one of the parents had a special video presentation that was great. The video ended and the father of the groom gave a great welcome, and a blessing followed. The seated dinner was presented shortly afterwards. I got the pleasure of eating and I’m telling you, this was some of the best food I’ve ever had at a wedding-pork tenderloin, amazing! Once dinner was over, the best man and matron of honor presented toasts and the cake was cut. I kicked the party into gear right after the cake cutting and the dance floor was packed all night long! The only break we took was to do the bouquet (“Single Ladies” by Beyonce) and garter (“Legs” by ZZ Top). I closed out the night with some fast stuff like “Footloose”, “Twist & Shout”, and “Love Shack” before playing their chosen last dance, “Save the Last Dance for Me” by Michael Buble. I saw a few shots on Shane Snider’s, and they are great! Check out just a few of the best below! Congrats to Brandi and Matt…killer reception!

Chelsea and Marc had an amazing reception at the brand new Chapel Hill Country Club. You could literally still smell the new paint in there! About 2.5 years ago it burned down and they have been operating out of permanent tent structure since. Anyway, Jeff Earley stuck around over there and it was great to see him and the new place. In any case, Marc and Chelsea didn’t want alot of fanfare or traditional things when they came in. I announced just the bride and groom and then they welcomed everyone. The food was served and after everyone got their fill, we opened the dance floor. From the first song until the very end (which extended overtime) the dance floor was rocking! It was a really great reception and they got alot of dancing in since there weren’t any “special” dances. Chelsea looked amazing and actually knows how to make a line dance look good! Marc’s family is from the Dominican Republic (I think), and Marc’s dad brought me a great merengue CD that went over really well. This was a great crowd and it was evident that they came to party! I don’t want to forget to mention that Rick and his son from Total Production Services really did an awesome amber lighting job in the room as well.

Anna and Matt’s reception was this past Saturday at Embassy Suites in Cary. The room was decorated absolutely gorgeous. Angie Wright from Chic Details made sure every detail was perfect. We started off with announcing the bridal party which led into Anna and Matt’s first dance as husband and wife to The Fray’s “Look After You”. Just after the first dance, Anna’s Father Bob welcomed all the guests, then a blessing and dinner. After dinner, Erin the Maid of Honor and Matt’s father John, the best man gave 2 unforgettable toasts. Erin paid back Anna 200 pennies from their childhood, and John gave an explanation of “Angel Blue” which is taught exclusively at Meredith College. The term “Angel Blue” is the “look” a woman gives her partner when he has spoken out of turn, or needs to be reprimanded. After that we turned our attention to the cake which Anna and Matt cut avoiding any long term devastating effects on the new family. Then the dancing resumed with Anna and her father dancing to Rascal Flatt’s “My Wish”. Then Matt danced with his mother to the song by Leanne Womack “I Hope you Dance”. We kicked off the open dancing with the Temptations’ version of “Ain’t no Mountain High Enough” and the fun never ended. A bit later Anna tossed the bouquet to Beyonce’s “Single Ladies” and Matt tossed the garter to the “James Bond Theme”. When we re-opened the dance floor, it stayed packed the rest of the night. The last song of the night was Marvin Gaye’s “Let’s Get it On”. Bridget from Neil Boyd Photography was capturing the images. Below is a sneak preview of the pictures. The night was capped off by a sparkler and bubble exit in front of the Hotel. Another great night.

Stefanie and Jonathan’s reception took place at the gorgeous TPC at Wakefield. Jaclyn Parks over there always does a great job with weddings, and things get even better when Cara Zuehlke and her staff from A Southern Soiree get involved. They did a great job with the turquoise and red theme, amazing blue caramel apples, red flowers, beautiful linens and everything else! It was a lovely reception, but let me rewind. The ceremony was outside on a really hot day, but luckily it was late around 7pm so it wasn’t too bad. As the reception began inside, cocktails flowed and I could tell it was going to be a good night. I lined up the bridal party outside the smaller of the two ballrooms. They all came in dancing to “Sexyback” and then the bride and groom went right into their first dance “Then” by Brad Paisley. It was a great way to start the night. Afterwards, the doors opened to the dining room and the guests were wowed. After a brief welcome and blessing, the buffet opened and everyone had a great meal. We started the night back up with toasts, cake cutting and parent dances. After that, it was party time! This crowd was young, primarily ECU Pirates, and ready to party! I think they may have set a bar tab record for the club! You gotta love that! From the first song to the last, they rocked. I loved DJ’ing this reception and I hope everyone had a great time. Check out the amazing pictures below from Cara Galati of F8 Studios! The hotness!

Saturday was Kevin and Megan’s wedding reception at the N.C. Museum of History. We started off by introducing the wedding party who came down the stairs to Eric Church’s song “How About You?” Then Kevin and Megan went right into their first dance to Brad Paisley’s song “It Did”. Ryon and her staff from Caffe Luna were on the ball with dinner. After dinner, we cut the cake to the song “For Once in my Life” by Stevie Wonder. Then Megan and her father danced to Jimmy Buffet’s “Little Miss Magic”. Right after that, Kevin danced with his mother to Phil Vassar’s “Woman in my Life”. Then we opened the dance floor a short time later with Elvis Presley’s “Hunk of Burning Love”. The dance floor stayed packed all night. A bit later, Megan tossed the bouquet to The Supremes’ version of “Can’t Hurry Love”. Then Kevin tossed the garter to Sammy Kershaw’s “Queen of my Doublewide Trailer”. The last two dance songs were Frank Sinatra’s “The Way You Look Tonight” and then Alabama’s “Dixieland Delight”. A sparkler exit followed out the front door of the Museum. Here are some of the wonderful pictures from Tammy Wingo Photography. This reception was a blast. Good luck Kevin and Megan, you guys were awesome.
