DJ Joe Bunn-Paul/Andrews Reception-March 20th, 2010

Michaela and Gerry’s reception was held this past Saturday at Capital City Club, one of Raleigh’s best views at the top of the Progress Energy Building. In fact, their first dance was held right at sunset…gorgeous! Well, I have to admit, this one was tough for me. It wasn’t because of the load in, the couple, or anything like that. I will be honest with you…I was SICK all day and was really struggling especially at first. After loading in and sound checking, I basically hit the couch in the foyer and just chilled. The intros and first dance rocked and then I had some down time during dinner (thankfully). By the time the toasts and cake cutting came around, I was starting to feel better. Once the dance floor opened, I was actually about 80% and ready to rock! The show must go on as they say! Enough with my nausea, I gotta say, this reception rocked! Great venue, decor, dress, etc. I even loved their first dance “Love Song” by 311 (one of my favorite bands ever!). I got several compliments from Gerry, Michaela, and the parents. I guess I pulled it off even after being sick! Thanks to Kristin at the Capital City Club for the ginger ale! Check out the amazing pictures below from Michael Moss.

ISES Meeting-March 16th, 2010
March 17th, 2010
I DJ’ed the open house and ISES meeting at Raleigh’s coolest and newest venue, SE7EN (seven), last night. I don’t have much to say because you can’t really describe the place, you just have to see it. I did get some awesome photos from photographer Daniel J. Pesta. Check them out below!

Eric and Lauren’s reception on Saturday was at the lovely, classic, historic Carolina Inn in the Old Well Room. This was my first wedding at the Inn this season and it was a great way to kick off the year! I will have to say that Tracy Adams with Adams & Events made this afternoon reception “tick” as usual. She’s great! The day started with the ceremony down the hall in another ballroom followed by cocktails. The guests eventually made their way into the Old Well Room and I started my work. Soon after, I went out and lined up the bridal party for the introduction which was to “The Way You Look Tonight” by Frank Sinatra. Eric and Lauren came in to thunderous applause and went into their first dance, “That’s How Strong My Love Is” by Otis Redding…GENIUS choice, one of my favorite songs ever. The welcome and blessing led right into a great lunch/dinner followed by the parent dances and toasts. At that point, it was turned over to me to do my thing. I kicked off the evening with some oldies and then moved into Top 40 soon after. What a party! And did I mention that this wedding was over by 6:15pm? These folks were partying like it was midnight! I had a ball and I think the guests did too. Eric and Lauren left under a shower of dried lavendar (I think?) and made their getaway in an early 60’s black Rolls, super cool. Check out the great pix below from photographer Lauren Mann. What a great reception…

Bob and Christine’s wedding was held on a Tuesday! at The Sutherland. This was a very special wedding that many vendors in the area donated their services to for a great reason. In addition, it was also the monthly NACE (National Association of Catering Executives) meeting. You can read more and see some video footage at NBC17. The night started with a lovely ceremony at dusk with PA provided by us, great music from Patrice with Seasound Studio, and it was officiated over by Ed & Becky Sansbury.
Afterwards, the guests came to the other side of the historic home and had drinks and apps while I played a few songs. NACE members were then treated to a talk by wedding planner Ivy Robinson about doing charity events. Soon afterward, Christine and Bob did their first dance to “Two is Better Than One” by Boys Like Girls and Taylor Swift. After that, it was open dancing time and Christine’s friends and family lived it up! I played all types of stuff and they had a great time! For the exit, everyone lined the long sidewalk and James Walters of Raleigh Wedding Cars drove them off in the ‘69 Rolls. There are SO MANY wedding pros that participated in this event including wedding planner Grace Beason that coordinated all of the elements. I wish I could list them all here, but don’t have the space or the full list, but I think most are listed on the NACE site. Please check them out and use their services! Check out some of the amazing images provided by Brian Mullins and Katie Hamister.
