We Did It Again!

April 29th, 2010

We won the Vendor’s Choice Award last night at the Forever Bridal Vendor Blender! This award goes to the best booth at the Southern Bridal Show & Expo on April 18th at the NC State Fairgrounds. We hope that you came out and saw it in person, but if you didn’t, check out the pix below from James Walters of Walters & Walters. DJ Vegas was spinning videos on the big screen on the custom made speaker wall!

Amanda and Alex held their reception and ceremony at one of my favorite places in NC, The Umstead Hotel & Spa in Cary, NC. I love it there! I even go there sometimes and spend the night with my wife and hit the pool and spa and act like I’m not still in Wake County! Anyway, I digress. Let’s talk about an awesome reception! The night started with their introduction to “The Way You Make Me Feel” by Michael Jackson and then a great welcome from the father of the bride. Dinner was served and then just as it ended, several people came up and gave some truly great toasts! They were really funny! We opened up the dance floor with some oldies like Al Green’s “Let’s Stay Together” and I could tell this was going to be a good party. After the cake cutting (Sweet Memories did another super job), Amanda and Alex had their first dance to “Your Song” by Elton John and then they danced with their parents to “What a Wonderful World” by Louis Armstrong (forever a classic). Afterwards, it was back to dancing and I slipped in an “Anniversary Dance” to Clapton’s “Wonderful Tonight”. That went over well and the lady that had been married the longest received the bouquet…so sweet! Back to more dancing and for this set I put it in 5th gear! Everyone hit the dance floor for a mix of 80’s, 90’s, and Top 40 jams. What a great party! I think what really made my day today though was this email I got from Amanda’s mom, “Just wanted to send a note to you to thank you for the spectacular work you did at my daughter’s wedding this past weekend. You did a fantastic job and really made the party rock! Thank you so much for helping make the reception such a success. Your professionalism and dedication really stood out. Everyone had a great time and you had the whole group going for the entire night. Thank you again!” Kevin Milz nailed it with some great party pix!

Wedding show producers Dom & Laura of Forever Bridal put on another great show this past Sunday at the NC State Fairgrounds in the Jim Graham Building. Tons of great wedding vendors were there and tons of brides showed up ready to plan their Fall and 2011 weddings, all in ONE DAY! I had a vision of our booth after playing DJ Hero with my 5 year old one day. We built a huge backdrop filled with subwoofers and had a DJ spinning videos all day! It was insane and I was really proud of this creation. Thanks to all of my DJs that helped out and my “team”-Leslie Ivey (design), Ken Holmes (constructions), and Joe Colafrancesco (lighting). At this show, we also debuted The Lincoln Agency, our new band booking agency. One of my DJs, Steve Stowe, is going to be the lead agent there and we created a really cool booth for that too! Here are a few pictures from my buddy Cris with Azul Photography.

Andrew and Lillian’s reception took place this past Saturday at Raleigh’s stunning Cardinal Club. What an amazing view from the 29th floor of the Wachovia building downtown. You can see the whole city! As soon as guests entered they started cocktailing and coming into the ballroom to check out the view and the setting sun. It really was spectacular! Once Andrew and Lillian arrived, they came right in and did their first dance “3 Rounds and a Sound” by Blind Pilot. Yeah, I know, I had never heard it either, but this song is really good and a great first dance! Next, they danced with their parents to “It Had to Be You” by Harry Connick Jr. Afterwards, guests made their way to the food stations and within minutes they were on the dance floor…to the dinner music! I had to put this party in gear and let me tell you, these people came to get down. Great dance response to many different genres with a big ending to “I Gotta Feeling” by The Black Eyed Peas. It was madness in there! Check out the photos from Tammy Wingo.
